Descriptive Poems

WALT: paint pictures with words.

Some of us are learning to write two ideas in one sentence, in our poems.
 The Sun
The sun looks like a brand new shiny rose, like the bubbling, boiling lava,
The sun looks like a giant in the sky throwing bombs, like a cloud booming out lightning.
The sun tastes like hot wasabi, like the ginger in the sushi shop.
The sun smells like burning fire, like roasting marshmallows.
                               By Fiona

The Sun
The sun is like fire dragon.
It feels like lava bursting out with hot water.
The sun tastes like a fireball going into your mouth.
The sun sounds like a gun shooting at a target.
The sun smells like wood burning in the fire!

The Ocean
The ocean smells like an enormous jellyfish swimming in the sea.
The ocean sounds like a roaring lion in the sea calling for help.
The ocean smells like salty water, like a feather tickling my face.
It feels like snow full of salt water on my tongue.

Trees
Trees look like rows of soldiers marching.
Trees sound like the hissing of the snake.
Trees smell like the fresh apple I eat.
Trees look happy.

Thunder
Thunder looks like a giant up-side down birthday hat, a gigantic pencil digging into the ground.
Thunder sounds like a racing car driving very fast.
Thunder smells like socks with jam, custard with yoghurt and bananas with eggs.
Thunder feels like the heavy wind in the sky.
Thunder tastes like mud with sticks, cardboard with paint and wood with a brain.
Thunder makes danger!

Snow
Snow is like a teardrop landing in water.
Snow sounds like a silent library, and smells like fresh ice cubes after rain.
Snow feels like rain drizzling on your house.
         By Aaria.

Thunder
Thunder is like your dad slamming the hammer when he’s building a tree-house for you.
Thunder sounds like when you scream in the car.
Thunder sounds looks like white lightning flashing for a second,
Thunder feels like aflame of burning lava.
Thunder sounds like a gun shot, like a person puffing.
Thunder looks like danger in the sky.
        By TJ.

The Clouds
The clouds look like some squishy marshmallows in the freezing cold air and flashing wind.
Clouds sound like a soft howling angry wolf.
Clouds sound like baby sleeping in its bed while her mum rocks her to sleep.
              By Anjalee

The Sun
The sun is like a volcano exploding out fire and lava.
It is like a bursting fireball in the red, hot sky.

 Excitement
Excitement looks like when I have a birthday and my parents surprise me.
Excitement feels like when I am blindfolded and I’m touching something.
Excitement is like when there’s a smell that smells so good and you don’t know what it is.
Excitement is like when I hear my parents talking about something that is happening.
